Where IS God when Bad Things Happens?

I was on a sick call to a parishioner in one of the hospitals in town in Benin City.

.As I was passing through the aisle of the hospital ward, I observed a scene in one of the bed spaces. A young woman was crying uncontrollably.  she has lost her only child to the cold hand of death. I later learnt that she has been in marriage for fifteen years before she was able to conceive and give birth to this child. 

As I drew closer to console her, she held my hand tightly and amidst her sobbing, she repeatedly asked me "Fr, where was God during the fifteen years of my barenness?" Where was God when my daughter was given a wrong injection prescription; where was God when my only child was killed? 

I managed the much I could to console and comfort her with God's word and prayers and assured her to share her story with some friends who will give response to her questions and situation. 

As humans we face similar existential experiences and questions daily. This our sister needs answer to her questions and situation. Your response and sharing of your own personal experiences can be helpful to her and many others in similar situations particularly at this Covid-19 pandemic season.
